Which Online Poker Rooms are US Friendly?
 |

The last few years have been pretty tough for online poker players who are living in the United States.
Following the introduction of the UIGEA, many poker rooms elected to pull out of the United States.
The iPoker Network, Party Poker and the Ongame Network all decided to shut their doors to American players in the weeks following the inclusion of the UIGEA into the SAFE Port act.
Three of the top five biggest online poker networks in the world were now closed to American players.
This significantly decreased the number of options that were available to American players. No longer would they be able to play at the likes of Party Poker, Titan Poker or Everest Poker.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that a number of rooms decided to keep their doors open to US players. After all, the USA has the largest number of online poker players of any country in the world, and it's not even close.
So who still allows American players to play on their sites?
1. Pokerstars. The largest online poker room in the world. Their decision to remain open to American residents enabled them to solidify their grasp on the number one position.
2. Full Tilt Poker. Full Tilt Poker has become the second largest room in the world through aggressive marketing campaigns and an impressive roster of sponsored players.
3. Cereus Network. Formerly known as Ultimatebet and Absolute Poker. These two rooms combined to form the "Cereus" network in 2008. Both rooms have remained open to American players.
4. Cake Poker. The 10th largest online poker network in the world. Cake Poker is quickly gaining favor with online poker players, due to their lucrative bonus offers and player-friendly software.
5. Bodog. Bodog is another company that has chosen to continue to accept American players. Bodog has fanatical customer service, although they have had payout problems over the past year or so.
Sure, you may not have as many options as a player from Sweden or Japan, but there are still a number of rooms that an American player can play at. The top two online poker networks in the world still accept American players - it's not as good as it could be, but it certainly could be worse.
Can you imagine if Full Tilt and Pokerstars had pulled out of the United States as well?
