Maximize Your Initial Deposit to Maximize Your Potential Bonus
 |

It's Friday night and you have just gotten home from a long week of work.
Instead of watching a movie, you have decided to do something a bit different - play some online poker.
You have never played online before, so you have just signed up for an account at Full Tilt Poker. You've seen Phil Ivey on TV wearing the Full Tilt Poker logo on his shirt and hat, so the site must be decent, right?
Anyways, you finish signing up for an account, and you have now pulled out your credit card to deposit.
Like most people, you figure that you will start off with a small deposit, just to see how it goes. I mean, you can always deposit more later, right?
This is a common mistake that many people make.
Why?
Because the size of your INITIAL deposit on most sites determines the size of your bonus.
Most sites offer what is called a MATCHING bonus. This means that the site will match your deposit with a bonus, up to a certain amount.
In Full Tilt's case, they will match the size of your initial deposit on the site with a bonus of up to $600.
So, what does this mean?
It means that if you deposit $25 initially, then you are going to be stuck with the prospects of earning just $25 in bonus money.
On the other hand, if you choose to deposit $500 initially, then you would qualify for a bonus of $500.
$500 vs $25? This is obviously a massive difference.
There are no "do-overs" when it comes to this bonus. At sites such as Full Tilt Poker, the size of your second deposit makes no difference when it comes to the size of your bonus.
Most rooms realize that most people will start off by making a small deposit. The amount of people who actually qualify for the maximum bonus is quite small.
Sure, maybe you don't have the money to deposit $600 to maximize your bonus.
However, depositing say, $100 vs $25 would qualify you for $75 more in bonus money.
Keep this in mind when signing up and depositing on a site for the first time - you need to think about maximizing the size of your bonus.
Pokerstars is one of the few sites (they may be the only site to do this actually) that actually lets multiple deposits count towards your bonus amount.
