World Poker Tour (WPT) Ireland
The World Poker Tour (WPT) is an annual poker series comprised of tournaments all over the world. For WPT’s 10th season (2011-12), the WPT is adding the “Emerald Isle” to the main leg of the WPT for the first time ever.
WPT Ireland will take place at the legendary Citywest Hotel in Dublin. The buy-in is €2,500, 10 percent of which the WPT withholds. The event begins on Thursday, January 5, 2012, and the final table takes place Sunday, January 8.

2011-12 WPT Ireland is just the first event of a three-season deal made between the WPT and PKR Poker, an online poker room. PKR hosts the Irish Poker Championships, and as sponsor, will offer online qualifiers for WPT Ireland.
As a major WPT stop, WPT Ireland will award a $25,500 seat for the WPT World Championship.
WPT Ireland will also integrate the Irish Poker Championships (IPC), which was formerly held in Galway. The buy-in for the IPC will be €750, and players can win a seat at WPT Ireland just as they can through PKR.com promotions.
Historically, the WPT has taken place primarily in the United States. However, since acquisition in 2009 by PartyPoker, the European aspect of the tour has expanded considerably. Ireland is just the next step in that effort.
